Mrs Julia Harle, Headteacher.
St Peter’s Primary School was built in 1973 and was designed to give a feeling of light and space. The central courtyard is a key feature and we have developed it into a tranquil area at the heart of the school. The grounds are attractive and include an outdoor classroom, pond, wild area, field and outdoor play equipment.
St Peter’s provides good education within the context of a church school. Our children are happy at school and strive to reach their goals.
We value the creative arts and have examples of art work designed and made by the children. These include two large mosaics and nine panels based on stories from the book of Genesis. St Peter’s is an exciting, creative place to teach and work. Our children love art, drama and music and we use these opportunities to teach the curriculum whenever we can. Children enjoy creative activities and we aim to make learning as exciting as possible.
Our children behave very well and have excellent manners. They treat people with respect. We have an active School Council who work with the staff and Headteacher to try and make sure we are a bullying free school. They meet regularly to discuss aspects of school life. We also have an Eco Group who make sure we work towards becomming a more environmentally friendly school.
As a church school, we have close links with our church, which is physically attached to the school. We promote Christian values in everything we do. We also encourage children to appreciate their own cultural traditions and the richness and diversity of other cultures. We have a special assembly in church every month when we welcome younger brothers and sisters, as well as parents and grandparents.
We teach French to every class. We are twinned with Ecole Christophe Plantain in St Avertin near Tours and also Mukono School in Uganda.
We offer many clubs including football, netball, recorders, guitars, dance and drama. Different clubs run during the year, organised by teachers, parents and outside specialists.
We welcome people who share our vision and wish to work with us. We have an enthusiastic parents committee, called FOSP (Friends of St Peter’s), which holds events to raise money for school.
All children have frequent access to computers either in our lovely media suit or using lap tops in the classrooms.
Please come and see us and find out more.
